One very important lesson I learnt was the importance of gathering complete
user requirement details as early as possible. Some of the requirements for my
project were only obtained towards the end of the project, which left little
time to implement them -- in fact, some were never successfully and completely
implemented.
Another mistake I made was underestimating the amount of time required to
produce a project such as this one, and not starting it early enough.
I noticed when looking at previous projects that it was sometimes difficult to
find the information required, due to the relatively coarse-grained table of
contents, and the lack of an index. For this reason, I decided to include an
index in my report, which was quite easy to do since LATEX can easily
generate one.
