Acknowledgements

I would like to thank my first supervisor, Dr Keith Hobley. Sadly, Keith left the department after Christmas 2002, though in the Autumn term he gave me lots of help and encouragement through the early stages of my project.

After Christmas I was in the capable hands of Dr Stuart Roberts. As one of the database experts in the school, Stuart was able to give me specific advice on those aspects of my project related to database design, which was a great help.

Bill Butterworth, the Sports Centre manager, also deserves a mention for the time he spent explaining the current procedures for booking, and for giving me samples of the booking sheets used, to base my online system on.

Finally, thanks to everyone else who helped to test my system, those who gave useful feedback on it, and those who helped with the proof-reading of my final report.
